Let me tell you, this book, From Blood and Ash, was a rollercoaster ride I wasn't prepared for. I devoured it in days, heart pounding with every turn of the page.

We meet Poppy, a girl shrouded in mystery, trapped within the walls of the opulent but suffocating Palace. Life within these gilded cages felt like a slow descent into madness. The constant whispers, the watchful eyes, the ever-present threat of the next blood ritual – it all chipped away at my sanity.

But Poppy? Poppy's a firecracker. She's sarcastic, witty, and desperate for a life beyond her preordained fate as a Maiden. I found myself cheering her on as she defied expectations, snuck out at night, and trained in secret. Girl, I felt your frustration, your yearning for freedom!

Then there's Hawke. Ugh, Hawke. Mysterious, infuriatingly handsome, and hiding secrets darker than the night. The way he waltzed into my life, all brooding intensity and cryptic pronouncements, had me both wanting to strangle him and melt into a puddle.

Seriously, the slow-burn tension between him and Poppy? Pure torture, the best kind.

The world-building? Intricate and captivating. From Blood and Ash throws you into a world of gods and monsters, of ancient pacts and forbidden magic. There were moments where I felt completely lost, buried under a barrage of unfamiliar names and places, but the story's momentum kept me going.

And the plot twists? Let's just say I spent a good portion of the book with my jaw hanging open. Just when I thought I had things figured out, Armentrout would throw another curveball, leaving me reeling and desperate for answers.

This book isn't for the faint of heart. There's violence, there's darkness, there are moments that will make you flinch. But there's also love, loyalty, and a fierce heroine who refuses to be a pawn. If you're looking for a fantasy that will keep you up all night, guessing until the very end, then From Blood and Ash is definitely worth diving into.
