Annnd it's here. Valentine's Day. Like every other year.
Don't you just want to sit curled up at home with a good romance-y book and a hot coffee? I know I do! For those of us who just prefer our own company- or rather, a book's company, here are a few personal romance (w)recs! 1. You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle-
This book stirs up things for me. It is so underrated and unknown but so, so worth it. Seriously. It's an enemies-to-lovers romance in a way, but the best part is that they're already engaged. LOL. They're both trying to get away from each other, and of course, situations pull them together. They're both constantly sabotaging each other with amazing, swoony, witty banter and adorable hate <33
10/10 recommend!
2. In Five Years by Rebecca Serle-
This book was so different from what I thought it would be. If you want a heartbreaking comfort romance and if you want to sob your heart out, this is the book for you.
Based on a dream about a man that the MFC had five years ago, she's caught unprepared when she realizes that he is her best friend's boyfriend. And that's not even the worst part. The best friend, her soul sister, the one she always falls back to, is dying.
I think I cried my lungs out in this one :(
3. Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren-
Okay usually, I think Christina Lauren's books are repetitive with the same storyline and same plot twists but this one surprised me. It opened me to read more of her books and I found that I liked them. This has two timelines and major heartbreak. I don't think I want to say anything else and spoil it for you. Just read it, trust me.
4. The Maddest Obsession by Danielle Lori-
To be honest, this is an unexpected pick for this list. But, the mafia-romance is definitely binge-worthy. You'd think it would be crude and offensive but it's really sweet and swoony. It'll give you a glance into the Cosa Nostra, New York's underworld. Gianna's tendency to run wild and Christian's need to control creates a fun push-and-pull dynamic between the two.
“Haven’t you heard? Love is an obsession. Some would even say . . . the maddest obsession.”
5. The Bridgerton Series by Julia Quinn-
I know, I know. But seriously, Benedict and Sophie's story will make your toes curl. Talk about rising in love. He's the second son of a viscount, and she's employed at his house. The banter, the steam, the hate and the love make you want to wish you were there! And I promise, the books are better than the show.
